Indian sandalwood is the common name for Santalum album. The name refers to the species, not where every supply is grown. This material is Australian-grown heartwood, the fragrant inner wood where sandalwood develops its characteristic aroma.
Cultivated in Australia under controlled, traceable growing conditions. The heartwood is harvested from trees averaging 15 to 17 years, cut into small chips, and air-dried.
Most chips measure about 1/8 to 1/4 inch (3 to 6 mm), with visible natural grain and colors ranging from pale gold to deeper amber.
Chip size, grain, color, and surface texture vary naturally from piece to piece.
Store closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture.
