About the material

Balloon dust is sandalwood at its finest particle size. It is the lightest fraction of Santalum album heartwood produced during grinding, resulting in a soft, extra-fine aromatic powder.

Source & preparation

Sourced from Indonesia from old Santalum album heartwood. As the heartwood is ground, the lightest particles travel into the grinder's cloth filter bag, traditionally called a balloon, where they are collected as balloon dust. Nothing is added.

Appearance & natural variation

An exceptionally fine heartwood powder ranging from pale tan to warm brown.

Color, texture, and aroma intensity may vary slightly from batch to batch. Because the powder is extremely fine, a small amount of airborne dust is natural when handled.
How to use

Use in incense recipes that call for finely powdered sandalwood. The extra-fine texture blends easily with other powdered ingredients, adding warm, creamy wood notes.

Soul Space warmer: Not suitable. The powder is too fine for the mesh screen and can fall through.
Storage

Store closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture.
Safety & handling

For aromatic use only. Do not ingest or apply to skin. Handle gently and avoid breathing airborne powder. If warming or smoldering, use in a well-ventilated area on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Never leave heat or flame unattended. Keep away from children, pets, drafts, and flammable materials. Allow tools and surfaces to cool completely before handling.
