Siam benzoin is the resin of Styrax tonkinensis and one of the two best-known commercial types of benzoin. Compared with Sumatra benzoin, Siam benzoin is especially vanilla-forward, without the more cinnamon-like character associated with the Sumatran resin.
Sourced from Vietnam. Sections of bark are removed from Styrax tonkinensis so the fragrant resin can exude and harden into the pale pieces commonly called benzoin almonds.
The resin ranges from pale cream to warm honey, with a mix of rounded almond-like pieces and smaller natural fragments.
Some pieces may show a fine powdery bloom or darker bark-marked areas. Size, shape, tone, and surface texture vary naturally.
Store closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture.
