There are many grades of Indian Sandalwood (Santalum album), each shaped by soil, sun, and time. The finest quality comes from mature heartwood, the inner core where the essential oils concentrate over years of slow growth. Unlike traditional Australian sandalwood (Santalum spicatum), Santalum album carries a richer oil content and a rounder, sweeter fragrance. Its heartwood is darker and more resinous, releasing an aroma that feels both grounding and luminous when gently warmed.
These chips are cut from aged heartwood, most measuring between 1/8 and 1/4 inch in length, with a few reaching up to 1/2 inch.
